Alessandro Michele’s debut women’s collection for Gucci for Fall presented the rise of the geek. Big frame glasses, long, simple hair, toques and pussy bows. The pussy bow is terrible name for lovely, feminine accessory. It adds a softness to sweaters and suits. It can be part of blouses and dresses or added to an outfit as an accessory.

I put this outfit together from existing pieces in my wardrobe and I wanted to highlight 2 trends: colour blocking and the pussy bow. The bow tie is actually a belt from another dress and I paired it with a shirt dress and a cashmere vest. The bow takes the place of necklace and adds a feminine touch to an otherwise simple shirt dress.

A vintage example of this trend is from FW1976. Yves Saint Laurent takes a trouser suit and adds softness through a pink blouse with a pussy bow.
