I’ve been to NYC almost every year since 2003. The longest I stayed was 1 week and the shortest was 2 days. I always find new and interesting things to do and see in the city. It is an urban photographer’s paradise, a fashionista’s treasure chest and a culture hound’s playground.
This weekend’s trip is a celebration of a friend’s birthday and for me – to have some fun before I go back to work after 25 Days 25 Looks.
- SEE the oculus at the World Trade Centre
- SHOP at Century 21 – this is on every trip’s must-do list 🙂
- DRINK an Aperol Spritz at Eataly’s Rooftop patio
- VISIT the Irving Penn Retrospective at the MET
If you’ve followed 25 Days 25 Looks then you’re probably thinking this lady does not need anything! But like all women I have gaps in my wardrobe that need filling.
- Denim skirt
- White blazer
- Mid-heel black sandals – dressy
- Discounted Gucci sunglasses (Century 21)
….mmm…if I added a top to this list I would have a complete look!
Stay tuned for my New York report and VLOG when I return. CIAO!
Recently I was the voice of the week on tondo. Tondo is an online platform where contributors post about art. One of my posts was how fashion and art intersect. Here is the excerpt.
For a couple of years now I have been following the SPRZ movement at Uniqlo. In 2013 Uniqlo signed on to become a multi-year corporate sponsor of MoMA, supporting the Friday night free admission program. At the 5th Avenue flagship store, the mezzanine level is completely dedicated to the SPRZ collection of modern art tees. The selection is mind blowing and I saw so many people on this past visit to NY wearing these t shirts.
I created this tableau of t shirts from my wardrobe. I also keep the shopping bags to frame later on. This program allows art to reach even more people and promotes MoMA and its’ outstanding collection of modern art and visiting exhibitions.
My Own Intersection
The painting that the doll is posed in front of has been hanging around as a rough draft for awhile. I’ve been meaning to buy a full size canvas for it but other things -like this blog took precedence.
I decided to take the colours and create a striped midi skirt. I love these tones of green and could see this skirt being made in taffetta or shantung silk. It’s the perfect thing to wear to gallery opening!
