Color of 2018

Every year Pantone introduces a new colour. This year it’s Ultra Violet. Representing the cosmos and space it should not make us feel despair or darkness but allow us to think about the infinite possibilities this year may bring.

At least that’s how I feel about this colour.

Happy New Year everyone!

2017 COLOR

I welcome 2017 with colours. specifically the PANTONE Colour of 2017 – Greenery.

Greenery represents nature and revitalization. Something we could all use after 2016. At the Spring 2017 shows, Louis Vuitton captured the essence of Greenery with sharp pantsuits that reminded me of tart green apples.

The Pantone Fashion colour of 2017 is Niagara. Flowing water and deep lakes, Niagara is also a revitalizing colour. Louise Vuitton also hit it with this lovely flowy dress. I want this so bad! This pleated shirt from Celine is a reminder of cascading water. Probably something you can pick up at H&M or Zara at a reasonable price point. Denim can also be an interpretation of Niagara and Altuzarra’s embroidered denim skirt is another item on my Spring “must-haves” list.

I created a cropped, bat wing top out of this beautiful origami paper from Muji.I love how fresh this shade of green looks. It gives the promise of a great year for 2017. Hope you enjoyed this colour report and let me know what your colour is for 2017. Cheers!

Colours of 2016

Pantone announced the colours of 2016. Yes you read it right – colours.

Usually Pantone chooses 1 colour to represent the year but for 2016 they chose Rose Quartz 13-1520 and Serenity 15-3919. Both colours are soft and soothing. They have a calming effect and with what is happening in the world they are needed more than ever.

Pantone sets the colour standard for the world. Product designers, graphic designers and fashion designers look to Pantone for pure colour.

Let’s take a look at some SS2016 collections and see which designers showed these colours.

I love this Alexander McQueen long dress. The transparency and ruffles compliment the softness of Rose Quartz. The Burberry dress in the center combines feminine edginess. Carolina  Herrera shows shades of pink including Rose Quartz.

Serenity was slightly more challenging to find. Chanel incorporates Serenity into a lovely textured dress. J Crew has a cropped pant suit as part of their collection. Marc Jacobs showed a long trench coat.

Think about these two colours when you’re planning your purchases for Spring/Summer 2016.

I created this cropped top and midi skirt from japanese paper in rose quartz and serenity. I really like how these colours look together and will definitely try to mix them in Spring and Summer.
